This vision for Lehigh’s future has prompted the need for a new campus plan. The central question of the campus plan is: how can Lehigh’s diverse collection of buildings and landscapes support the goals and initiatives of the Strategic Plan, while preserving the essential character of the place – what makes Lehigh, Lehigh?

Also, to support this question are several others:

  • How does this infrastructure need to shift to address our goals, values and growth?

  • How do our sustainability and climate commitments support into this plan? and can we use this process to elevate and accelerate our process?

Steven worked collaboratively with BBB, the Lehigh University facilities team and team (listed below) to lead a year-long effort to address these and several other key questions for the institution.

Key to the process was intersectionality - commnuciating the need to not decouple infrastructure and climate related discussions from other key growth and strategic planning initiatives. This led for the analysis, tool generation and recommendations for low-carbon future to be elevated by key decision voices.

Steven's recommendations were an integral part of an overall campus plan, and was well thought-out and very clearly presented.  He was able to dig deep into our energy data, analyze it, and organize it in a way that provided Lehigh with a powerful tool to understand and predict our energy use in various scenarios. And, just as important, he's a great communicator of complex data -- earning the trust of facilities staff and campus leadership
